About Us

Saints and Skeptics is a show where faith and reason meet, and where questions, doubts, and beliefs are openly explored. We aim to have thoughtful discussions around topics regarding the Catholic faith, the history of the church, theology, philosophy, and so much more. In each episode we will work to address both sides of arguments—faith-based perspectives as well as critical or skeptical viewpoints. The main goal of this show is to evangelize and bring to light the truth of God by answering common questions that people have regarding the Catholic faith in a way that is dogmatically and scripturally sound and appropriate.

The show is hosted by Joseph Raphael Pascal. A cradle Catholic who has spent the better part of his life learning about Catholicism, and is currently pursuing a Masters Degree in Theology with concentrations in Sacred Scripture and Systematic Theology. He comes to us with a wealth of understanding regarding the faith and a deep desire to learn more."Joseph Raphael Pascal" is a pen name chosen to honor Saint Joseph, the Archangel Raphael, and Blaise Pascal.Saint Joseph, the foster father of Jesus and spouse of the Virgin Mary, is honored as the Guardian of the Holy Family and the Patron of the Universal Church. Though silent in Scripture, his obedient and righteous actions show profound faith and humility. The Church venerates him as a model for fathers, workers, and those entrusted with divine responsibility. The Archangel Raphael, whose name means "God heals," appears in the Book of Tobit as a divine guide, healer, and protector. He reveals God’s providence by curing Tobit’s blindness and safeguarding Tobias, symbolizing God’s care for both body and soul. Raphael is the patron of travelers, the sick, and medical workers.Blaise Pascal was a 17th-century French Catholic philosopher, mathematician, and apologist, best known for “Pascal’s Wager”, which argues for belief in God as a rational choice. Though not canonized, he defended the faith during the rise of skepticism and rationalism. His unfinished work, the Pensées, remains a profound exploration of faith, reason, and the human condition.Joseph Raphael Pascal can also be found on X @josephrpascal
